Introduction to Sketching

Beginners Welcome! For anyone who wants to get started in sketching but has been too scared to try! We overcome fear - discover how sketching is a skill that you can learn and be amazed at how quickly you will unlock your own creativity.

Absolutely no experience or artistic background is necessary. I guide you through the basics for drawing, creating a composition, watercolour mixing and techniques. You will develop confidence and find your very own personal style, as I share unlimited tips and tricks, guaranteed to fast track your learning experience.

We meet weekly, for a 2 hour session over 3 weeks, in a calm, easy setting with a maximum of 6 per group. I teach in a relaxed Mosman cafe while we can enjoy a good coffee! This is a great option for a group of friends, mum and daughter, husband/wife or sisters!

Next Level

These sessions are for those who have some prior sketching experience, have done the Beginner’s Course and are looking to level up their skills. We explore new subjects, learn about perspective, sketching people and discover exciting new watercolour techniques. Without judgement I encourage experimentation, as we continue to learn from each other.

Sketching is a wonderful way to connect - whether it’s making new friends, discovering your creative side, or connecting with nature and the urban environment around us. The sketch community provides a fun new outlet. Enjoy continuous learning as you discover new places too!

A course of 2 hours, over a 3 week period. $250 per person.

Saturday workshops of 2-3 hours. $150 per person

Zoom Sketch Practice

Initially started during COVID19 our Zoom sessions remain a popular favourite, as a way to practice regularly and improve our sketching every week. Every sketch is a lesson and you will improve with each one you do!

This class is best suited to those who have some experience with ink and watercolour, although beginners are welcome. The sessions are informal and very interactive, giving you the chance to ask questions and gain instant advice or feedback from myself and fellow sketchers.

I provide varied subjects and images used to demonstrate and experiment with alternative techniques for ink and watercolours.

We take the last few minutes to share feedback with each other, discussing any new learnings or challenges we encountered. Many have found the supportive platform to be very useful as we always learn something new and gain insights from each other.

Come and join us for some fun on this positive and supportive platform.

$30 per person.

Every Tuesday 5-6 pm.

Sketching is a great ‘ice-breaker’ and an activity everyone can enjoy, whether it is for a special event or as a team-building incentive. You will be amazed at how quickly your guests or team relaxes, enjoys each other and quite often, uncover hidden talents.

What you need

Sketching only requires a few, relatively inexpensive essentials to create the perfect on-the-go sketch kit.

  • A water-resistant ink pen (0.4mm or 0.5mm)

  • A watercolour sketch pad (A5 is preferred)

  • A set of watercolour paints (most small palettes of 12 colours are good)

  • Paint brush (size 6 or 8)

These are all available from most art shops.

All these items are very light and portable, to make up a kit that fits easily into a bag. This means you can sketch wherever you are, on-the-go or whenever you get inspired.

I run regular weekend workshops during the year.

These are usually themed and focus on a particular subject or technique for improving your sketch skills. They run for 2 hours in a tranquil location in Mosman. Come and learn something new, meet some lovely new sketch friends and enjoy a morning of creative fun.

Please check social media to find out details of the next one, or contact me directly.
